We are a bioanalytical research lab affiliated with the IUPUI Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology of the Purdue School of Science based in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Our research is at the interface of analytical chemistry and biochemistry with the goal of developing novel bioanalytical techniques employing luminescent proteins and inorganic probes.  We are working specifically on the development of sensing systems for different classes of RNAs, including microRNAs, mRNAs, and siRNAs.  We capitalize on the high sensitivity of detection associated with luminescent proteins and combine it with one-step detection methods such as protein reassembly and bioluminescence resonance energy transfer in order to develop highly sensitive, fast detection methods for nucleic acids.
